Pure corundum, or aluminum oxide, is a completely colorless mineral. The presence of elements foreign to its chemistry give it its color; hence the name of the variety (sapphire for blue and ruby for red). The lot presented is of sapphires, whose yellow color was induced by beryllium diffusion processes in the structure of the gems. The rosette cut, with fancy shapes is very particular.
