Pure corundum, or aluminum oxide, is a completely colorless mineral. The presence of elements foreign to its chemistry give it its color; hence the name of the variety (sapphire for blue and ruby for red). The lot presented is of sapphires, whose color was induced by beryllium diffusion processes in the structure of the gems. These gems can be purchased individually, but it is recommended to take the entire lot to make a ring.
