Oval cut cabochon ruby, 8.70 ct

The gem appears included when observed with a 10x lens: clearly visible evidence of lead-glass filling treatment. The pleasant purple-pink color adequately compensates for the quality of the original rough. Pleasant translucency effect; at the base of the cabochon the natural inclusions called "silk" are visible, which follow the growth planes of the crystal. Not perfect proportions.
