The gem appears very flat, in fact the depth of the pavilion is rather small compared to the width of the table. This causes a loss of light dispersion, or fire, very intense and characteristic of this gem.
Sphene or Titanite is one of the rarest collectible gems and has the highest refractive index; for this reason when exposed to artificial light it shows beautiful rainbow reflections called fire. If mounted on a jewel that protects its delicate parts, it can be confused with a yellow diamond
