I work Slowly, a radical slowness that I live serenely, and I am not afraid to wait years between one passage and another of a jewel if I am not convinced by the ideas I have at the moment. Time has the tendency to erode away the weakest ideas, to make the unsuitable ones migrate elsewhere, to scare the wrong ones.
Six years ago I bought this opal, the fire is something amazing, powerful, visible in any light. I don't know how to describe it to you. Turning it between my fingers, from whatever side I look at it shows me flashes of different colors, with a particular accent on warm tones. The Gemologist said she is not sure of the origin because if it is an Ethiopian opal it is of very high quality, I bought it as Ethiopian opal and as such I sell it. It is also large! It is 3.2cm long and 1.1cm wide, the thickness is around 5mm.
Five years ago I made the setting for the opal, convinced that I would finish the work soon 🤣
Two years ago I decided that a chain was too little for such an important centerpiece, and I created a bezel, with the idea of setting some stones soon.
in 2024 I chose to set some Rhodolite garnets in it, an intense red tending towards raspberry.
The stone itself is expensive, I was offered to sell it alone, the stone, at a price close to what you find as the cost of the finished and shipped pendant.
However, if you love opal, this is a necklace that will satisfy any desire in a definitive way 😄
I have worked on very few stones like this. I will be sad to part with them, if and when that happens. ❤️
